Mary created a warm, nurturing, and loving home for her family, filled with fun, lively conversation and opportunities for her children, as well as a seemingly endless supply of chocolate chip cookies. Her home was a welcoming place for friends young and old. Mary was an active member of the Paxton, IL and Rockford, IL communities, serving as a school board member, volunteer, and community activist. She developed a talent for painting and enjoyed music and travel. Once her children were grown, Mary went back to school and earned a Master of Social Work degree at Loyola University in Chicago, after which she spent several years in private practice as a psychiatric social worker.
After retirement, Mary and Don lived in Oostburg, Wisconsin before moving to Sun City Center, Florida. They returned to Wisconsin this fall, settling in Winneconne to be near all of their family. The last months of Mary's life were filled with visits from her children and their spouses, grandchildren, and her seven great-grandchildren, visits that were filled with laughter and love. Mary will be dearly missed by so many.
